NOTICE: Potential One Piece Manga Spoilers
Although the anime of One Piece is in an extremely good moment (although there are pauses in the form of filler), the manga created by Eiichiro Oda is not far behind. After a lofty Wano arc, the Straw Hat Pirates have embarked on Eggheada most unique island where we have been able to discover new secrets of the series.
But what has really stood out in the last chapters of the manga has been, without a doubt, the presence of Shanks. The Redhead is one of the most beloved characters in One Piece and every time he appears on the screen the fans shudder and scream with joy. But why are we highlighting this particular pirate? Well, the answer comes in an interview with Oda 25 years ago.
During a conference that Oda offered in December 1998 and that the Twitter account Sandman been able to salvage, the Japanese author commented that when Shanks appears more frequently in the manga, the reader must assume that One Piece is entering your saga final.
And what is happening? Well, the frequency of episodes in which this famous pirate appears is increasing, and in recent weeks his presence has been one of the highlights of the manga, so Oda is giving us one more reason to think that the end of One Piece is getting closer. Not long ago the mangaka already commented that he wanted to end the series in 5 years, so the appearance of Shanks was fairly expected. Still, it breaks our hearts a bit to think that this unforgettable journey is coming to an end (relatively) soon.
