Parallel to the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring also received an update in the non-expanded version, but this apparently causes problems on the Steam Deck.

It’s Earthtree Day. Starting today, you can enjoy the new DLC for Elden Ring, which has even pushed the previous DLC leader, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, off the top spot in the Metacritic ratings. At the same time, update 1.12 for the main game was released.

This includes a number of other bug fixes, new hairstyles, inventory revisions and a few balancing changes. For example, newly received items are marked in the inventory and there is a new tab that allows you to view recently received items separately. The complete Patch notes for Update 1.12 can be viewed on the official website.

Steam Deck owners, however, are a little less happy with the update, as it appears to bring some problems to the handheld PC. “Note: An issue has been identified related to the Steam Deck and a hotfix is being worked on,” it says in a Tweet on the official Elden Ring Twitter account. “Leaving your Steam Deck inactive for more than 5 minutes may cause the game to stop accepting inputs. We apologize for the inconvenience. The date and time of the hotfix will be announced separately.”

But that doesn’t seem to be all, as further complaints have appeared under the tweet. These seem to mainly affect the online mode, with quite a few players mentioning a message called “Inappropriate activity detected. Unable to start in online mode”. In addition, some players report that the performance of the DLC on the handheld has decreased.

So it seems that From Software still has to work a little harder to fix the existing problems quickly. In the meantime, you can read the praises of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree from our colleague Matthias.
