FromSoftware’s Soulslike games, including the open-world milestone Elden Ring, are notorious for their tough difficulty levels and their sometimes opaque game mechanics. But what does the creative mind behind these masterpieces actually think about you getting help from guides?
This is what the Elden Ring inventor thinks about guides
Hidetaka Miyazaki, President of FromSoftware, recently commented on Interview mit PC Gamer surprisingly positive about the use of guides:
Of course, players will rely on guides, and there will be a wealth of information on the internet and in their communities that they can access.
For Miyazaki, using guides is a legitimate way to play. He knows that many of you need this support and also sees it as feedback for his team:
If they don’t, there is room for improvement on our part.
He also emphasizes that FromSoftware designs its games so that they can be played without guides. However, he also respects when players ask for help – after all, not everyone has the time or patience to discover every secret on their own.
