some potential Eldon Ring Clips uncovered by data miners may reveal a questline involving the game’s cover art character Vyke.
If you didn’t realize it, it would be totally fair considering how sluggish the lore is FromSoftware In the game, the knight you see in Elden Ring’s cover art isn’t actually your character. He’s actually a character named Vyke, who fights bosses as an intruder in the game. Now, YouTuber Sekiro Dubi appears to have uncovered some details that could point to Vyke’s questline in the game.
In Sekiro Dubi’s video, some incomprehensible dialogue from Gostoc mentions “a rather disgusting-looking knight” whose armor “melts inward and almost falls apart,” a very obvious reference to Vyke.
Sekiro Dubi also appears to have spotted Vyke’s cut questline, but left no text or audio. Conversation options have also been removed, but are still selectable.
Vyke was supposed to be summoned in Stormveil Castle, and Sekiro Dubi hypothesized it might be for Godfrey instead of Godrick, since the former’s character model was also found to spawn in another data mine. Although there is no way to know for sure.
Vyke’s quest also has three rewards, first some neutralizing projectiles, then two cutting items.
Let’s briefly explain some of Vyke’s background and why it’s interesting that he cut things out (some spoilers ahead). Like you, Vic is tainted. According to the item description on his armor, “No one else has come closer to Lord Aiden’s throne than Vic.” The description goes on to explain that Vic went deep underground in the capital, “scorched by frenzied fire.”
Like many armor sets in the game, Vyke’s is a set you can buy. It melted very visibly in many places, with larger fingerprints embedded in the armor, probably due to the three fingers located below the city.
This, in turn, means that Vyke is affected by the Frenzy Flame, which causes the Outer Gods to go mad. We can even see the moment he is taken over by the flames in the cover art on the cover of Game Informer’s February issue.
We’ll probably never know why Vyke’s story has become more mysterious, but that’s probably just because it’s more interesting as a mystery rather than something more directly told.
