news tip Elden Ring: new? Be careful, don’t update the game!
Elden Ring just got a patch, and… updating the game might not be that urgent, especially if you put your mind to it. Below, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about this latest update and how it affects FromSoftware’s title meta.
Elden Ring sees its first major update here. Maybe the reason for you not to do this update to finish the game easier? Then to attack the New Game Plus? Let’s see together what has been weakened and how to block the update.
What’s included in Elden Ring Patch 1.03?
Elden Ring Patch 1.03 primarily contains many bug fixes. It also includes new quests related to NPCs. The most interesting thing in this patch relates to the balance fixes. This improves some spells and weapons while, and here’s the catch, weakens other methods of combat. Pietinement givrant, for example, was an excellent spell. Fast, he did a lot of damage quickly, both in PvE and PvP. This Ashes of War is being nerfed pretty heavily here (increased summoning time, reduced damage). As well as others (Ashes of the Mimic Tear, Bloody Slash, Sword of Burning Night…)
Should I update?
That’s actually a great question. The update improves some spells (Night Comet, Comet, Starburst…), but at first glance it is the most powerful weapons and ash that are nerfed. So a certain boss near the end of the game that was said to be very difficult was much more accessible thanks to the combo Mimic Tear Ashes + Bloody Cut. You won’t be able to cheese this boss so easily anymore…
So what will you miss if you don’t update the game yet? Well, not much. The new quests are actually quests that were included in the game files and were not activated. There are no great rewards to be had from these. And of course there is the question of your skills. You may have found an excellent combo for your play style, for example with the Ashes of the Mimic Tear + The Sword of Burning Night and his devastating Kamehameha. If you update the game, you lose a lot of efficiency if you want to continue playing like this.
To block the update, simply pause it, whether it’s on Steam, Playstation, or Xbox. And go ahead with your game (you can no longer summon a player over the internet, but the Ashes of the Imitating Tear are almost as strong). And “break” the game, nothing will stop you!
