As has now been officially confirmed, the recently announced Elden Ring Nightreign will unfortunately be without a popular feature.
Following the official announcement of the co-op spin-off Elden Ring Nightreign, it has now been confirmed that a feature that is actually popular for this type of game is unfortunately missing and will not be used in this case. The makers of From Software have now officially admitted this.
Accordingly, the cooperative multiplayer title will not have a cross-play feature. Friends and players on different platforms will not be able to go into battle together in the co-op title, which is quite annoying.
As game director Junya Ishizaki announced, Nighreign will rely on a similar system to the original Elden Ring. Accordingly, only players within the same console family can play together – regardless of the console generation. PS4 players can at least go into battle together with PS5 gamers, and Xbox One players can go into battle with those who are on the Xbox Series X/S. Xbox and PlayStation players remain separated.
Elden Ring Nightreign is scheduled to launch in 2025 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. A first network test run was also recently announced for early 2025. However, Elden Ring Nightreign will forego live service approaches.
