The spin-off Elden Ring Nightreign was announced at the Game Awards – and selected players will soon be able to see for themselves in a playtest.
From Software surprised us all at the Game Awards when, out of nowhere, they announced Elden Ring Nightreign, a multiplayer co-op spin-off of the hit Soulslike title for 2025. Now it's getting even better: Selected players will soon be able to get hands-on and see for themselves what awaits us in the full version next year.
Reason: The developers have announced an initial network test run for the game, during which the server infrastructure will be checked for the first time before publication. Accordingly, this first test phase should take place in February 2025 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
If you want to be there, you have to mark an earlier date in your calendar in order to register. The registration phase for the playtest starts on January 10, 2025 on the official website for the game. The aim of the test phase is to be able to identify and initiate necessary work on the infrastructure at an early stage so that everything can go smoothly during the launch.
The makers say that several technical verifications of the online systems will be tested. Part of the game will be made available in advance as part of the test. It is currently unknown how many players will be selected for this network test from the pool of registered and interested gamers.
Elden Ring Nightreign was just announced this week, lets up to three players compete in co-op and offers a choice of eight different character classes. There is currently no specific release date beyond the general indication of 2025.
