From Software has confirmed that Elden Ring 2 is not in the plans. However, a door is left open for the franchise.
In a new interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki from From Software commented on the future of the successful Elden Ring franchise. In this context, he confirmed that a real sequel in the form of Elden Ring 2 is not on the studio's plan.
Opposite Game Watch Miyazaki said that several new projects are in the works at From Software, but Elden Ring 2 is not among them. Specifically, it says: “At this point in time, we are not considering developments such as an Elden Ring 2. However, that does not mean that we reject further development of the Elden Ring IP. As for the question of what we will do then: From Software is working As usual, there are several different variations of projects and I hope you look forward to them.”
Earlier this year, From Software released Shadow of the Earthtree, a major expansion to Elden Ring that was so good that it was even nominated for Game of the Year Awards. In the same interview, Miyazaki does not see the add-on as a complete game.
In one line he speaks of a “next game” in the context of Elden Ring. So all in all it could mean: From Software is returning to the franchise with another game, but this will probably not be a real sequel in the form of Elden Ring 2. We will of course keep you updated on further developments!
