Warning, spoilers for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree ahead.
Well, before we proceed, make sure you’ve heeded the above warning. The datamining experts who pore over every last detail in FromSoft’s games inevitably started digging into Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion pack. And, it seems, they’ve dug up and remastered an extra cutscene just in time for you to enjoy.
In a lot of ways, these data miners are a bit like those people who keep pasting DLC bosses in increasingly impressive ways. Artists who, instead of painting on a canvas showing what would happen if Messmer pissed off someone with a dance mat, pull out a paintbrush and say “let’s assume that, at some point, this might be a planned thing in the game”. Enthusiastic Jackson Pollock with a serious addiction to show and tell.

Anyway, that’s what they did. A team led by Sekiro Dubi managed to discover and recover some dialogue that they believe to be the fourth cutscene with St. Trina in The Tarnished series, which looks like it should have happened/played after you (warning above) killed Miquella.
As you can see in the video below, the fourth cutscene plays directly after the first three cutscenes in the game – in case you need to catch up. It’s only about twenty seconds long, and sees Trina getting her ASMR on by whispering against a black background – just like the first three.
So, what was the purple lady chatting about? Well, she said “thank you” to The Tarnished for killing Miquella, which was pretty good of her, then paused and added: “Finally, he’ll be free.” In the words of Sekiro Dubi, that’s it.
I’m definitely not one to delve into the meaning of this lore, but if I had to guess, I’d say FromSoft probably chose not to include something this small in the game, probably because the developers didn’t want to make Miquella’s metaphysical fate so clear, like someone telling you you’ve freed him.
That being said, this is Elden Ring lore, so who knows. Also, don’t expect data miners to dig up as much cuts in the DLC as they did for the original game, with Sekiro Dubi explaining on Twitter that while there is some cuts: “Just not the big stuff like full NPC quests. Just little details here and there.”
