Elden Ring will also take advantage of the PS5 Pro to restore a little health, but don’t expect any major extras either.
The PS5 Pro is getting a lot of attention and the anger of gamers has not yet subsided. Many people still think that 800 dollars is too much for a console, no matter how powerful it may be. At the same time, Sony’s machine is starting to reveal its secrets, especially by running under the expert supervision of Digital Foundry, a specialist in the field. After having assured us that the technologies embedded in the console are clearly groundbreaking and that FF7 Rebirth is simply great, new revelations have been made about FromSoftware’s GOTY, Elden Ring.
Experts examine the capabilities of the PS5 Pro
Elden Ring is an artistically great game, but it has some technical problems that still persist two years after its release, especially on console. It has been pointed out that the frame rate does not always keep what it promises, whether we are in quality mode or performance mode, usually more fluid. In the latest edition of DF Direct weeklySeveral specialists from Digital Foundry have taken a close look at the specific features promised by the PS5 Pro and carried out a whole series of tests based on a PC whose performance corresponds to the future Sony console. The results are therefore not the most accurate, but give a good idea of what the machine will be capable of in general.
During their testing phases, they put Elden Ring on the table to see if there would be any native improvements that the PS5 Pro could offer, and there are. As a reminder, the PS5 Pro will be able to boost all the games played natively, even without an optimization patch. This feature will, on paper, allow getting a few more frames per second on most of the games already available and future ones. According to DF’s tests Elden Ring will also benefit from this, but not as much as expected.
Elden Ring more beautiful than ever … or almost
DF experts claim that the Elden Ring’s performance mode finally delivered on its promise of a consistent 60 fps. A brilliant thing that should make a huge difference to players’ lives, because yes, as good as Elden Ring is, framerate drops out of nowhere and sometimes even in the middle of combat are relatively common.
Unfortunately without a proper patch, The quality mode would obviously not be able to achieve such a level of fluidityat least on paper. However, Digital Foundry tempers this by pointing out that the PS5 Pro may include some surprises that could further enhance the experience, but at this point, according to their measurements, nothing is certain.
However, we are not sure that Elden Ring will receive a small PS5 Pro patch with significant graphical improvements. At the moment, it is not part of the list of games optimized for PS5 Pro at launch. FromSoftware’s game could take advantage of this to give itself a second life and revive its interest among certain players who are chilled by its few pitfalls. See you on November 7th for the release of the PS5 Pro To be clear, until then, know that Elden Ring will of course remain available on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, as will its DLC Shadow of the World Tree.
