Elite Dangerous fans can slowly but surely prepare for the launch of the new fleet carrier. The fleet carriers have 16 landing areas of various sizes and can perform hyperspace jumps of up to 500 light years. The most expensive investment in Elite Dangerous to date costs a Commander 5 billion credits.
Once they have purchased their fleet carrier, Commanders can expand their individual services by setting up repair stations, petrol stations, shipyards and much more. For the first time, the fleet carriers in Elite Dangerous enable trading between individual players. Fleet owners can levy taxes on all goods traded on their ship to cover the weekly running costs. The aim is to repair signs of wear, pay the crew and finance tritium, the new fuel for the mega ships. Commanders can customize their fleet carrier to their heart's content and adapt it to their playing style. However, you need to keep an eye on the cost, as long-term unpaid debts can result in the ships being confiscated and sold as individual parts.
Two publicly accessible betas enable players to take a look at the fleet carriers before the launch. The first beta is aimed at PC gamers and starts on April 7th. The second beta includes players with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and starts in May. The official launch of the fleet carrier in the game will take place in June 2020.
