Activision has founded a new development studio, Elsewhere, in Warsaw, Poland, which is dedicated to a completely new, narrative IP in the AAA segment.
While there is currently only talk of layoffs and closures in the games industry, there is also some happier news from Activision for a change: The publisher, which is now part of Microsoft, has founded a completely new development studio in Warsaw, Poland, Elsewhere Entertainment, which is now dedicated to a debut project.
Elsewhere Entertainment consists of numerous experienced developers who have previously worked on a number of well-known titles such as The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Destiny, Tom Clancy’s The Division and Far Cry. In view of this, expectations for the new project, which will be supported by additional resources from the USA, are quite high.
The debut project in question is supposed to revolve around a completely new narrative IP, with my ultimately aiming for a result in the highest quality class, AAA. You also have full access to all Activision resources and tools. Additional employees are also to be hired for the project.
Considering the way in which Microsoft is currently cutting jobs at Activison, the founding of a new studio and new hires seems almost a bit bizarre at the moment. But it’s definitely a pleasant circumstance for a change! We will of course keep you updated on the further development of the new project, for which no further details have been made public yet!
