In a press release, the publisher confirmed together with developer Romero Games today that the release will not go off in spring 2020 as previously planned. Instead, Empire of Sin has now been postponed for half a year; the strategy title is now planned for autumn 2020.
Brenda Romero from the developer studio explains this step in a statement as follows: "The challenge of developing a game like no one before is exactly that – developing a game like no one has developed before. It all takes time properly and it gives us some unique opportunities. I'm grateful that we now have additional time to fine-tune the game. The support and enthusiasm of our community for Empire of Sin is just incredible. We hope the players , when they’re out and about in the Chicago that we’ve created, they’ll be convinced that it was worth the wait! ”
Paradox also emphasized in a statement that given the "ambitious vision" for the game, they were willing to allow the additional development time.
Empire of Sin puts you in the heart of Chicago at the time of prohibition and has you organized an organized crime syndicate in the 1920s. In tactical battles you have to control your gait and also assert yourself in the neighborhood. The release is planned for the platforms PC, Mac, Switch, Xbox One and PS4 – at least at the time of the announcement. Today's press release simply speaks of "Xbox" and "PlayStation", so it remains to be seen whether the postponement will also result in a PS5 and Xbox Series X release. There is not yet a specific new date.
