Record attendance despite empty hall
However, the empty swept-up spectator stands did not prevent the e-sports teams from competing against each other in the grand finale. The fans in turn did not miss the opportunity to follow the event via the stream. They even set a spectacular record of over 1,000,000 simultaneous viewers.
In the big CS: GO showdown on Sunday, March 1st, the e-sport clans G2 Esports and Natus Vincere faced each other. The Ukrainian team Natus Vincere put G2 Esports in their place on the last map with a crushing result of 16-2 and finally won the game with a 3-0 overall victory over G2 Esports.
So Natus Vincere not only took home their first win of the year, but also a quarter of a million dollars in prize money. Even if this victory had to come from the audience ranks without applause.
