Update from April 4, 2024: A new month has begun, but old virtues remain. For example, the free games in the Epic Store. Furthermore, a new free game appears at 5 p.m. and replaces the old one. Even the fickle April can’t change that.
For you that means: be quick! At least if you like Metroidvanias or mice or flying islands that want to be explored. If you like all three things, you no longer have to worry that you might not like Islets. For everyone else, just read our original story from last week to learn more about the game.

The 2D platformer Islets takes you into a world that has been shattered into individual floating islands by a major conflict. Your task is to reunite these worlds by restoring the connecting energy source. On your journey you will meet a variety of characters, solve puzzles and fight enemies to bring the islands closer together.
The story is presented with a charming, hand-drawn art style and a touching narrative that will captivate you for several hours. The battles are challenging but fair and the puzzles are thought-provoking without frustrating.

Don’t let the cute graphics fool you – Islets is a full-fledged Metroidvania that can really kick your butt, especially on the hardest difficulty. It has a little too many bullet hell elements for my taste, but I still had a lot of fun with it. It was a pleasure to achieve all the achievements.

This game is great. I was looking for a game like Hollow Knight, but this one is much lighter and easier to play. The story is great too!
