It is now available Epic Online Services. This new service promises to make it easier for studios who want their multiplayer games to connect users from all consoles and PCs. And best of all: it's completely free. You can get all of this right here.
Does this mean that because it is from Epic it will only work with titles developed in Unreal Engine? Absolutely. The company of Fortnite confirms that these Online Services are compatible with any engine, and even platform. That is, they do not have to be relegated to games from the Epic Games Store either; it is also possible to use them for Steam.
From matchmaking to cross-saving, to lobbies and many more. What we have here are the same tools that Epic itself uses to Fortnite and other titles, now free for any developer.
