the last episode of Andor has been released for the time being. Season 2 of the Star Wars series will be a long time coming. Still, the season finale has another surprise in store that will be revealed after the credits roll.

What does the post-credits scene show? The twelfth episode of Andor is the first of the Star Wars series to have something to show after the credits. In it we see spider-like droids working on a gigantic machine. When the camera zooms out, it’s impossible to miss what exactly it is.
The post-credits scene of Andor shows the construction of the Death Star – the Galactic Empire’s ultimate superweapon. And if you were wondering what Cassian and his fellow inmates put together in the previous episodes of Andor on Narkina-5, you’ll get the answer in this scene at the latest.

What does that mean? After the Aldhani robbery, Cassian is actually trying to get away with his newfound wealth and put his feet up on the planet Niamos. However, he is in the wrong place at the wrong time and is shortly thereafter arrested by Imperial security forces and shipped to a maximum security prison on Narkina-5.
There, the prisoners are forced to construct the same components for the merciless work shifts, the meaning and purpose of which remained a mystery until episode 12 of Andor. It turns out that the constructions made by Cassian Andor and the other prisoners were intended for the Death Star.
So Cassion Andor, Kino Loy, Melshi and Co. involuntarily and coercedly helped the Empire build the Empire’s superweapon – which would even then cost Andor his life in Rogue One.

How does the scene fit into the Star Wars canon? Season 1 of Andor takes place approximately five years before the events of Rogue One and Episode 4 – A New Hope. So the Death Star is far from operational at this point, having begun its construction under the supervision of Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader and Moff Tarkin at the end of Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith.
Of course, the events of Season 1 Andor also take place years after Rogue One’s opening scene, in which Galen Erso was captured by Director Krennic to help complete the Death Star. The first use of the Galactic Empire’s superweapon comes during the attack on Jedha and later on Alderaan.

Andor is getting a second season, which is currently being filmed. However, Star Wars fans should not expect the new episodes to be released before the end of 2024, as filming and post-production will take up a lot of time.
