EPOS, formerly Sennheiser Gaming, released its first USB microphone B20 for game streaming.
B20 is aimed at the higher-end market, with a suggested retail price of 179 pounds or 199 US dollars, with “studio broadcast quality” in an aluminum frame.
In an attempt to achieve this requirement, the B20 is equipped with three built-in microphone poles capable of picking up frequencies between 50Hz and 20KHz to preserve the high and low ends of the sound you are recording.
Like other popular USB microphones, the B20 can switch between four different pickup modes, including cardioid to capture everything in front of the microphone, for a wider range of stereo sound, and for recording with another person Two-way and omnidirectional for capturing the entire room.
Like the PC, this new microphone is designed to work with PS4’s built-in streaming function, and comes with a patch to officially support PS5 streaming that is under development.
Interestingly, EPOS also pays tribute to the style-focused streaming media, saying that the design of the B20 is not only for sound quality, but also “looks great on streaming media.”
In addition, the B20 is plugged into the pre-existing EPOS Gaming Suite software, where you can adjust the gain and tone of the device without turning the physical dial.
This also allows you to add more features to the sound, such as an extra warm or clear voice enhancer, noise cancellation or setting a noise gate to cut off any interfering background intrusion.
EPOS Global Marketing Director Maja Sand-Grimnitz said: “B20 is very suitable for players who want to improve the quality of recording, broadcasting and audio communication.”
“We are proud to develop products that fully immerse people in the game, and we are proud that B20 continues this tradition.”
The microphone is available for purchase online from June 1st, and you can read our full EPOS B20 review here.
