Erica, a full-motion video game for PlayStation 4, dropped unexpectedly last week on Gamescom and requires people to fight hard. But you should, because it's fine.

It's about 90 minutes long, and it's short, and it's tied to games like Until Dawn-an experience best played with others in the room. Indeed, it feels like part of the design, with decision points blinking and you (and the people working with you) deciding what to do and which way to go.

It has less traditional games than Until Until Dawn. There is no time urgency, the sequence of button matches, and no reflection challenges. You just need to slide one finger along the controller's touchpad, sometimes with only two fingers, so this is a very gentle way of interaction that anyone can cope with, whether or not they ever picked up a PS4 pad. In fact, the recommended way to play games is through the companion smartphone app.

This is a typical decision-making moment. Silence-doing nothing-is an option.

Another huge difference is that you are watching the actors being filmed, not the actors who have been digitally reproduced, and it works great-so much that I don't know why more games don't do this (though I realize That's true of Her Story and Lying Lies, and they're both great). In the first wave of FMV games in the 1990s, there wasn't any deceptive filth. The output here is high. The scenes are beautifully shot, the colors and pictures are gorgeous, and the acting skills are strong. Especially Erica (played by Holly Earl) is fascinatingly fragile to her, but overall, people ’s confidence in acting is underestimated, so the quality is not good.

Quality appeals to you, which is necessary because it burns slowly. Erica is a psychological thriller, not a horror game. This is subtle, not rash. It doesn't scare-it scares occasionally. Erica's position is strong and eager to learn more and natural suspicion. What you really know is a girl without a mother, called Erica, and her father hinted that she was something special. Then you got involved in a murder investigation-things went south from there.

An example of how you interact with objects. Every interaction has a cute stop motion animation. They are very happy.

This story fell two-thirds. When the road seemed clear and the mystery was almost solved, but it ended in this way, I still think twice about what happened. Who is the real danger? I have my theories, and I won't share them here, but I'm not sure of any of them.

If it's a movie, I might find it a bit abrupt, with an ending, and the ending is too open-although I like to think. But this is a game of my choice after all, so the conclusion is my job. Even if I have cheated, I can easily experience and answer my question again, right? I made a choice. As a game, it also brought me closer to Erica. I Was Erica-I'm on her head. For a while, very late, when I felt clearly as confused as she was. It's very powerful-it works well.

At that time, I would not return to Erica personally, but I would find any excuse for someone I know to play it while watching. I like Till Dawn, especially the social aspect, but Erica makes it look wooden, swollen and overly complicated. Erica has just the right length, can be tilted well according to your palm requirements (for example, not much), and can be viewed naturally, even most movie games can't match. This is part of the new dawn of FMV games. enjoy it.
