The well-known first-person shooter Escape from Tarkov is to receive a new spin-off that focuses on a competitive multiplayer part and is intended to compete with Call of Duty’s multiplayer.
Known for its focus on realistic gameplay, the shooter Escape from Tarkov will soon receive a competitive multiplayer spin-off called Escape from Tarkov Arena. Developer Battlestate Games has now announced the independent offshoot via Twitter and also showed a first short teaser there.
In Escape from Tarkov Arena, the creators take the flair of the main game and pack it into a new multiplayer shooter. On a session-by-session basis, you can compete against other gamers on PC, with the hardcore game mechanics that the main game is known for returning here as well.
The battles will take place in various arenas in the city of Tarkov. Detached from the pure PvP multiplayer battles, there should apparently also be PvE game modes, with Battlestate still keeping a low profile on the design. Some kind of rating system should also be on board, as well as the possibility of unlocking weapons and equipment. Anyone who also owns the main game should benefit from special features, such as the opportunity to gamble with their own main character in the spin-off.
Those who already own the “Edge of Darkness” package will receive Arena as a free DLC. Incidentally, you will also be able to obtain the spin-off independently without having to buy the MMO hardcore shooter yourself.
A first cloud test phase of Escape from Tarkov Arena is scheduled to start this fall; There is no release date for the full version yet.
