"Glow in Europe": International Exhibition
No one wants to travel at the moment. No wonder ESC will not be held this year. Since the cancellation, people have been speculating about the appearance of alternative programs. A lot of money has been invested in marketing performing artists. Now, the candidate should still play.
Open May 16, 2020 At 8:15 pm, "ARC Europe Shine a Light" will be broadcast live on ARD in Germany. Until 9:00 pm, Barbara Schöneberger will lead you through the local German language course. The appearance of former participants such as Michael Schulte will also be celebrated with Ben Dolic's German contribution this year. The international program starts at 9:00 pm.
"Glow in Europe": ESC without a vote
According to the original plan, this will be hosted from the Netherlands. Edsilia Rombley, Chantal Janzen and Jan Smit led the evening and performed for about two hours. The show will be two hours shorter than last year's event due to the fact that there is no vote to determine the winner.
According to the German Eurovision website, if the voting procedure is too similar to the ESC process, it will damage the insurance penalty due to the cancellation of the ESC. You may need to open boundaries for this, which in turn will generate revenue. If the winner is also selected, the Netherlands will not be able to hold competitions in its own country and related reputation.
"Glow in Europe": Criticism of the concept
This concept has been recognized in the collectives of participating countries, but there must have been criticism from the Germans. ARD Entertainment Coordinator Thomas Schreiber admitted in an interview with DWDL that he had worked with Stefan Raab on another concept submitted to EBU. However, it is obvious to him that such a decision will always be made collectively and he will have to submit it.
The coordinator was not particularly satisfied with the final decision of "Europe Shine a Light". He believes that individual artists will not get enough attention. Nonetheless, Schreiber did not want to "escape the European idea."
"Free European Song Contest": Stefan Raab's alternative concept
Whether Schreiber is happy or worried about the game now, Stefan Raab has announced that he also wants to participate in an alternative show. Through the "Free European Song Contest", entertainers may want to achieve exactly what Schreiber hopes to get from "Europe Shine a Light". However, Raab will definitely do it if there is not most (if not all) people involved in this year's "Europe Shining".
Raab is able to attract such a wide range of participants in such a short period of time that the European idea truly represents this idea, not just becoming a large-scale "Federal Visual Song Contest", it remains to be seen. But maybe the former ESC participants and entertainers, even the ESC champion with Lena, can also let his contacts play.
