While there were relatively few fireworks this year for known reasons and some developers are remedying this in their own way with a short-term free fireworks simulator, the players at Eve Online have found a special replacement to end the year with a bang. And with a slightly different fireworks display: namely the biggest battle in the game so far.
As so often, this took place in the so-called »Nullsec areas« of the game world controlled by players. In the M2-XFE system, the two factions PAPI and the empire met again, which have been at war since the summer and only entered into a brief armistice over Christmas.
What was the aim of the battle? PAPI set itself the goal of destroying the Keepstar of the Empire, a Death Star-like space station. To do this, they first tried to use jammers to prevent the Empire from flying reinforcements into the system. However, the defenders managed to deactivate this “misery” and thus put their own fleet between their Keepstar and that of the attackers.
Why is this the biggest battle so far?
The extent of a battle can be measured in a variety of ways. And while the current fight in the Nullsec system of M2-XFE could not muster most of the participants, it beats the previous record holder “The bloodbath of B-R5RB” loudly Statements of the players in matters destroyed ISK and the battleships called Titan.
Another confrontation in the current war, however, could already win the title “Battle with most participants” to back up. We have summarized what happened there for you in the following article.

The losses
In one Live ticker on Reddit the players reported on the fight, which ended along with the regular server downtime. In addition, there is now one automatically generated report
How many ships were destroyed? Around 3,300 ships exploded in the course of the battle. Including 123 titans of the Empire and a further 121 with their opponents PAPI. In total, 244 of the largest ships in the game were destroyed.
Costs of almost 230,000 dollars: All told, over 23.3 trillion ISK, the game currency of Eve Online, went up in flames. In the in-game market, you could have bought around $ 280,000 worth of game time with this amount.
The comparison: The siege of 9-4RP2 in October 2020 had significantly more participants with 8,825 players, but just under 16,000 dollars were destroyed there. In the bloodbath of B-R5RB, on the other hand, a total of 75 titans blessed the temporal, and thus less than half as many as in M2-XFE.
What is the current standing?
A final winner has not yet been determined. After completing server maintenance, the Empire’s players immediately logged back in to defend their position. PAPI, on the other hand, instructed its own members to remain offline for the time being. The next attack won’t come until the end of the week.

Will there be a memorial?
The developer CCP often perpetuates the actions of the players in the game cart. In 2014 they added in memory of the battle in B-R5RB a monument one that you can still visit. Since the latest controversy resulted in even more losses, it cannot be ruled out that the studio behind the MMORPG will proceed in a similar manner and will also officially honor it in one way or another.
