Game news Even if Starfield GOTY is 2023, it won’t necessarily be enough to convince PS5 players
Xbox is going through a complicated phase according to many gamers. And according to Phil Spencer himself, even the Starfield juggernaut won’t be enough to motivate the crowd…
Starfield, the savior of the Xbox?
Few games have inspired an expectation quite like Starfield. It has to be said that Bethesda’s space RPG promises to be particularly ambitious and fold the cards of an entire genre. Suffice it to say that the game is expected as a messiah, especially since some see it as the only viable way to recreate the Xbox image. It has to be said that the manufacturer is currently facing a lot of criticism, mainly because of its relatively lack of communication and the controversial exit from Redfall.
Pota to coffee in the throat.
I didn’t feel like making a thread, so much everything I’ve seen about Redfall and Microsoft over the last week has really driven me to this sense of tanned leather from seeing the same bullshit over and over again … pic.twitter.com/zwrBGWcB9o

It is therefore currently difficult to see a ray of hope for the manufacturer with the green X. But it should clear up in a few weeks as the American Box has a special conference in store for us during the traditional summer announcement period. The appointment is scheduled for June 11th from 7pm with an Xbox Games Showcase followed by a Starfield Direct. An Xbox Games Showcase Extended will also be offered on June 13 with a focus on partners. The opportunity for the box to show us a little more about the upcoming games, especially to reassure concerned players.
But don’t rely too much on the games… That’s not what we’re saying, it’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer. “We’re not in a world where people would start reselling their PS5s when Starfield gets 11/10.” he said in an interview with the broadcaster Some fun games. The guy is pretty clear on the situation: “With Xbox One, we lost the generation that shouldn’t be lost, the generation where everyone built their digital gaming library. We want our Xbox community to feel good, but this notion that releasing more great games would be enough to win the console race doesn’t represent reality for most people. But that doesn’t mean we should bury Xbox just yet, far from it. For the American company, the fight takes place somewhere else than the only playground.
Xbox has a different strategy
“We have a unique vision” said Phil Spencer, still on the same channel. And to tell you the truth, this isn’t really new. In recent years we have clearly understood that the company has relied in particular on its Game Pass to offer a completely new way of consuming video games. And Xbox’s strategy fits in that direction. “Creators want to make games that players can access on all screens” he said, saying that Xbox is committed to filling that need.
Be careful, this doesn’t mean Xbox is giving up its consoles. “It’s without a doubt the heart of the Xbox brand. We will continue to make sure the console experience is amazing.” in fact Phil Spencer added. But at the same time, the box will continue to expand its Game Pass, the Xcloud, and a host of other features designed to change the face of the video game world. So we look forward to learning more.
