Rumors about the return of Tobey Maguire y Andrew Garfield like Spider-Man have not stopped happening since we saw them put on their suits once again in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the reality has ended up being the same for the two actors: all parties agree to return, but Sony has not made any moves for the moment.
Sam Raimi, director of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy, spoke about rumors that Spider-Man 4 is on the way. “Well, I haven’t heard of that yet,” he said recently to the medio CBR. Despite all the voices that claimed that the project had already started, the harsh reality is that not even the director knows anything.
I read about it [los rumores], but I’m not working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with the [películas] current Spider-Man […] and I don’t know if they will contact me again and say: Well, friends, we want to tell this story too.
It won’t be for lack of desire, because all parties agree that Spider-Man 4 should go ahead. Maguire made it clear in 2023 that he would love to do anything about Spider-Man again after No Way Home. Even Kirsten Dunst, Mary Jane, said in 2021 that he would play his character again.
If these guys called me and said, Would you show up tonight to hang out and be silly? o Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do something Spider-Man?; It would be a yes because… Why wouldn’t I want to do that?
In short: all parts of the original Spider-Man trilogy agree that they would reprise their characters, especially after the reaction that fans had with his return with Holland. At the moment, Sony and Columbia don’t seem to have anything planned… at least not with Maguire and Garfield. On the other hand, Spider-Man: Beyond the Multiverse is very real and on the way.
