The time has finally come: After months of waiting and seemingly endless leaks and rumors, Nvidia has now lifted the veil around its new graphics cards. As part of a keynote at the in-house GTC trade fair, company boss Jensen Huang held several models from the brand new RTX 4000 series for the camera. Here’s where we’re headed in terms of specs, performance, and pricing.
Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090
That new flagship wears one as in the previous generation 90
in the name of. The Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 has a whopping 76 billion transistors, 16,384 cores that clock at up to 2,520 MHz. This is joined by 24 gigabytes of GDDR6X graphics memory.
What does that mean for performance? According to Nvidia, the RTX 4090 should be twice as fast as an RTX 3090 Ti with classic rasterization. If you turn on ray tracing, even four times the performance is promised. 84 shader and 191 raytracing TFLOPS are mentioned. specified
Considering the enormous computing power, that almost sounds like it moderate

If you need 100 watts more, that’s quite a huge leap.
Ray tracing is said to be thanks to a completely new technology called Shader Execution Reordering
(SER) run four times as fast as before. Together with the also announced DLSS 3, even more complex game graphics should be possible in the future.
When will the RTX 4090 be released and how much does it cost? It starts with the new graphics spearhead on October 12, 2022. If you buy it right away, you have to put $1,599 on the table.
Nvidia Geforce RTX 4080 16G
There are two versions of the RTX 4080. One with 16 GB of GDDR6X, 9,728 cores and a maximum clock speed of 2,505 MHz.
On paper, the performance of the RTX 4080 is listed as a 2x to 4x increase compared to the RTX 3080 Ti, which would be huge. Until independent benchmarks exist, however, you have to remain healthy and skeptical.
With so much power, the question of consumption also arises here. Leaks suggested a consumption of 340 watts and Nvidia has officially beat this by 20 watts – it should be 320 watts.
When will the RTX 4080 16G appear and how much does it cost? It won’t start in October, but only in November 2022. Nvidia has not yet given an exact date. The larger RTX 4080 is priced at $1,199.

Nvidia Geforce RTX 4080 12G
The RTX 4080 12G rounds off the first wave of the new Geforce graphics cards. The smaller of the two 4080 variants has 12 GB of GDDR6X, 7,680 cores and a maximum of 2,610 MHz. The power consumption is nominally given as 285 watts.
And the performance? The card unsurprisingly ranks behind its two bigger sisters, but should still be enough for around twice the performance of the RTX 3080 Ti.
When will the RTX 4080 12G appear and how much does it cost? The cheapest Ada Lovelace model starts at around $899. The release will also take place in November.
