Kingdom Hearts 4 has finally resurfaced with excellent news that will delight fans of the franchise. Our ears will be in heaven and you will see why.
The situation in Kingdom Hearts 4 reminds us a little of that of the third opus. Many players are afraid of having to wait many years. So yes, to be patient, there are indeed spin-offs, but they don’t quite have the same flavor. At the moment we don’t know much about him. Since the announcement in 2022, there has been complete silence on the communications side. But surprise, that just changed. Important information about him has been confirmed that will surely reassure many.
Good news for Kingdom Hearts 4’s music
For Kingdom Hearts fans, just to name this license, the name Yoko Shimomura is probably not unknown to the battalion. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, know that you’ve probably had some contact with his work. She is an extraordinary Japanese composer and musician who, among other things, contributed to the legendary Square Enix series. We therefore suspected that she would return for the fourth work, but without official confirmation there was room for doubt. Fortunately, our fears can now be allayed because she has expressed exactly that.
Yoko Shimomura said it herself during an interview for IGN : She is currently working on the OST for Kingdom Hearts 4. At this point we can’t know if it will be a good game, but one thing is for sure: the music will live up to our expectations. Of course, she doesn’t reveal anything else and contents herself with explaining that she’s “currently writing a few compositions.” What you wouldn’t give to have a sample. She didn’t mention any other projects and kept her secrets private.
Additionally, we also learned that the musician would be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to video games during GDC 2024. Who could say she didn’t deserve it? We’ve cited Kingdom Hearts, of course, but his work goes beyond that. She has also composed for sagas such as Final Fantasy, Xenoblade Chronicles, Streets of Rage, Parasite Eve and Mario & Luigi. The list is long and allows us to understand what influence she has had on this medium. We can’t wait to hear his next creations.
While we wait for KH4, a spin-off is getting closer
Despite this good news, it’s clear that we’re not ready to hold Kingdom Hearts 4 in our hands just yet. A spin-off for iOS and Android will usually appear in 2024. It’s called Missing-Link and was eligible for a closed beta last year. The lucky ones were able to test the gameplay, but the game’s appeal lies not only on this level. The license has made a habit of cramming large portions of the plot into its mobile works, as Union Cross proves. We suspect that this new game will pave the way into the story of 4. You will have understood, you definitely shouldn’t miss it.
