THQ Nordic and Logic Artists shares new details on Expeditions Rome, particularly combat mechanics in the upcoming turn-based RPG.
Expeditions Rome New Trailer Showcases Turn-based Combat Mechanics
The latest trailer for Expeditions Rome features a closer look at the turn-based combat mechanics of the game. The trailer previews the moves players can make across the battlefield, outlining the use of one skill and one tactical item. In Expeditions Rome the number of moves it determined by the armor characters have equipped, for example light tactical armor allows for further movement but heavier armor adds further protection, showing the trade-off for armor types. Players will not only have to think about movement but also having time to attack.
As for skills, this is determined by the character’s class and weapons equipped. Each weapon has a few abilities which will be played at random. There is also crafting in Expeditions, meaning customising weapons and creating new ones. While shields do provide defence, they can also be used as weapons as well to bash or charge enemies. Things will play out differently depending on the environment, the trailer gives the example of tight spaces such as a hut playing differently to open spaces. At the end of each campaign is a massive siege which looks to be an epic battle to take part in.
