With each new generation of graphics cards, the cards of the previous generation become cheaper – in an ideal world. Unfortunately, this hasn’t really been the case with Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series graphics cards. At the current time, the cheapest RTX 3080 still costs just under 800 dollars.
Only recently, however, have a few lucky customers from Best Buy in the United States been able to buy the tickets for unbelievably low prices, which most people in this country would probably like to have permanently (via PC Games Hardware

RTX 3080 10GB for just $420
Best Buy is an official sales partner of Nvidia for the Founders Edition cards and is therefore comparable to Notebooksbilliger.de in Europey. For a limited time and quantity, the RTX 3000 series graphics cards could be purchased for incredibly low prices:
- The RTX 3090 Ti went down from $2,000 to $880
- The RTX 3080 Ti went down from $1,200 to $720
- The RTX 3080 10GB went from $700 to $420
- The RTX 3070 went from $500 to $300
This even led to the absurd situation that an RTX 3060 Ti not affected by the reductions was about as expensive as the RTX 3080 with 10 GB VRAM.
All the heavily discounted graphics cards are now sold out. It would be very much to be hoped that such price falls would also occur at Europe retailers. However, it is better to keep your expectations low.
An action with rarity value
The action was most likely a sale of excess capacity to make more room for the current RTX 4000 graphics cards. It cannot be completely ruled out that such an action will also take place in Europey. Better not to bet on that though.
How well the new graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia are selling compared to the older models can also be seen in our last survey on the subject. You can find out more about this here:
Are Nvidia and AMD really stuck with their new graphics cards?
The results currently indicate that the majority of you still have graphics cards from older generations installed in the system. This is not surprising considering the fact that the new GPUs from AMD and Nvidia are currently only available from around 900 dollars.
How do you rate the chances of an event like this taking place in Europey? And if you haven’t already and don’t own a newer GPU, what price would you even splurge on an RTX 3000 graphics card? Feel free to write it in the comments!
