Well, that didn’t take long. Frontier’s F1 Manager 2022, part of a four-game F1-licensed deal, is already being shelved by the developers.
Update:
in one Statement the developers have once again commented on the subject, since there were apparently ambiguities in the communication. Frontier will continue to provide updates to the game based on community feedback so that existing issues and bugs are addressed. It is emphasized that no significant expansi ons or even new gameplay features are to be expected. The support for the game will not be discontinued for the time being, on the contrary, several patches are still being planned.
Original message:
Seeing a few more Formula 1 themed games than just the Codemasters racing game certainly wasn’t a bad idea. That’s what Frontier thought too and struck a four-game deal with an F1 license. The first product from this was the F1 Manager 2022, which was released in August. But just two months after the release, the developers no longer want to continue working on it.
Frontier has announced that it will end support for the first F1 Manager sim less than two months after its release. The next patch will be the last major update for the game. Frontier wants to use the staff elsewhere to “ensure that the upcoming F1 Manager projects reach their potential”.
The idea of F1 Manager 2022 was generally well received, but the game was massively criticized for its thin features and numerous bugs. Although there was still hope that the game would continue to grow through various patches in the future, this hope has now ended.
The wishes of the players should no longer be implemented for the current game, but should be taken into account for any successor. It’s a shame for those who invested money in the title and now have to be satisfied with a more or less unfinished game.
