Stream Formula 1 for little money instead of expensive on Sky? This can be done via F1TV Pro – but not without a few tricks and tricks. This is how it works without the additional cost of a VPN.
- The Formula 1 streaming service F1TV Pro cannot be booked in this country because Sky holds the transmission rights for F1.
- Via a free VPN you can also watch the races in Germany via the server location Netherlands at no additional cost via the web offer.
- Membership with F1TV Pro costs EUR 64.99 per year or EUR 6.99 per month and can also only be booked via VPN.
If you want to follow Formula 1 racing in Germany, you actually need a Sky membership. After all, Sky reserves the right to live coverage of the motorsport premier class apart from occasional RTL digressions for its paying customers for around 20 dollars a month (Sky Sport). The web offer F1TV Pro is therefore not bookable for fans from Germany due to the situation of the TV rights.
VPN offers: NordVPN, Cyberghost and Co. with a discount of up to 88 percent
A resourceful Reddit user has now explained how you can also watch the races in Germany using the much cheaper streaming service F1TV Pro – and you don’t even have to pay for a VPN, without which you can’t access the live reporting via the app in this country .
These few steps explain how the whole thing works for iOS devices in the Reddit guide, of course without any call-to-action in the gray area. However, according to feedback from other Reddit users, the hack does not work for the app from the Google Play Store.
Step 1: Sign in to Proton VPN
The VPN provider Proton VPN offers medium-speed connections in its free basic package – and lets you choose three locations in the limited version. Since one of these locations is in the Netherlands, this offer is particularly suitable.
Of course, other VPN providers with free plans that offer a Dutch server location are also useful for watching F1TV Pro for free.
Step 2: Create a new F1TV Pro account
Next, with the VPN connection enabled, create a brand new F1TP Pro account with a fresh email address. Enter the Netherlands as the location here.
Step 3: Install and activate Proton VPN on your iOS device
Next, download the Proton VPN iOS app from the App Store and connect to the Netherlands server.

Step 4: (Re)install F1TV Pro on iOS device
Now you download the F1TV Pro app. If this already exists, the creator of the original instructions on Reddit recommends deleting this and all associated cache data and reinstalling it.
Step 5: Unrestricted use of F1TV Pro including live races
If you have completed all the steps, you should now be able to use the full range of the F1TV Pro app without having to pay for an additional VPN.
Tip: Use screen mirroring to see the broadcasts on the big TV screen instead of on your iOS device.
