Not true!? After 22 years, Valve announces a sequel to Ricochet, perhaps the best Half-Life mod ever? Of course that’s nonsense. But quite a few believed it, and not without reason.
After all, there was a blue Twitter tick behind the @ValveSotfware Twitter account that blasted this claim through the airwaves. Not everyone noticed the transposed letter immediately, the blue tick suggested authenticity.
Elon Musk began selling the blue tick for a monthly fee after his Twitter acquisition. The creators of @ValveSotfware took advantage of the moment to clear up a grievance.

Elon Musk made major changes after his $44 billion takeover of Twitter. So every user who pays eight dollars a month should get a blue tick. A note that makes official accounts recognizable as such is yet to follow.
In theory, unless there is trust-inspiring verification, anyone can spread misinformation at will with big names for a handful of dollars. Meanwhile, the Valve and Nintendo fake accounts have been banned. Apparently humor is subjective…

Until then, Twitter moderators should have their hands full banning parody accounts with a blue tick. The whole action gives the impression that the recent changes at Twitter were knitted with a hot needle. Several large companies had already suspended their Twitter advertising in anticipation of turbulence.
