Nine years after its release, Fallout 4 is finally getting a free addition that goes pleasantly beyond gameplay and offers a more contemporary experience.
After the cold shower of the “Next-Gen” patch was over, the modders were able to work on Fallout 4 again in peace. The mod that interests us here significantly improves the gameplay of the title to make it more dynamic and more adherent to the codes of modern FPS, both with the keyboard/mouse combination and with a controller.
A modern twist on Fallout 4 gameplay
Fallout 4 was released in 2015 and is still holding up quite well, largely thanks to the efforts of a modding community almost as passionate as Skyrim. However, the title’s gameplay is starting to gather a bit of dust, especially when it comes to the dynamics of its movements. Here is the mod Improved movement from bp42s comes onto the scene. As the name suggests, it drastically improves Fallout 4’s movement mechanics.
By adding a slide, it is particularly inspired by modern FPS. Be careful though, this particular addition requires another mod. Actor Velocity Frameworkwhich unfortunately is not compatible with the “next-gen” patch. Therefore, to benefit from it, it is necessary to return to a previous version from Fallout 4. The sprint, which is already present in the base game, benefits from a welcome improvement, as do the directional movements. The mod is completely modular and highly configurable to suit all needs. However, in order to use Enhanced Movement, you must install one Script extender et Mod configuration menuessential to properly mod Fallout 4.
Enhanced Movement actually consists of different modules, including sprinting, sliding, or even consuming action points to perform everything. MCM is therefore mandatory to configure all of this directly in Fallout 4 and modify the commands introduced by the mod. Even though installing the mod is only possible on PC, bp42s has made it compatible with both the keyboard/mouse combo and the controller (however, the configuration on the latter is a bit more complicated). In the video below you can see in more detail what Enhanced Movement offers and download it if necessary via the dedicated Nexus Mods page.
