After the Fallout 4 update on Steam, fans noticed “New Vegas 2” in the update via SteamDB and are now confused. Shortly after, this particular branch was deleted, although it is still visible on SteamDB.
This is not uncommon. It’s no surprise that Fallout 4 is gearing up for new content, especially with Fallout 4’s next-gen update arriving later this year. That said, this particular branch and its removal haven’t stopped Fallout fans from theorizing about all the possibilities of what “New Vegas 2” might mean. After all, New Vegas does have a die-hard fan base, and can you blame them? Fallout: New Vegas is perhaps the best Fallout game out there.
While the easiest answer is that Bethesda is probably planning some New Vegas-themed content for Fallout 4, more specifically the Creation Club pack, it’s good to pretend and hope that a New Vegas sequel or remake is coming. After all, it’s entirely possible that Bethesda could remake the awesome RPG from Obsidian in Fallout 4’s engine, or even release Fallout 4’s new Vegas-themed DLC. However, with Starfield just around the corner, the odds of it actually happening The Elder Scrolls 6 are in pre-production and look slim.
There’s sure to be a group of New Vegas fans who would love a remake or sequel, myself included, but we’re all supposed to manage our expectations here. Take this particular update with a grain of salt.
After Valve’s final reveal of Counter-Strike 2, all of which started with mentions of “cs2” files, maybe Bethesda is taking a page from Valve’s book and teasing fans with something bigger. I highly doubt it, and it seems more likely that Fallout 4 fans will see a little New Vegas infused into their game, but as Valve taught us recently, never say never.
What do you think or hope this deleted “New Vegas 2” offshoot will be?
