Fallout 5: Insider: Microsoft could accelerate the release of a new game

Accelerate, Fallout, game, Insider, Microsoft, release

Thanks to the Amazon series, Fallout is currently on everyone’s lips – and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by Microsoft either. There should therefore be considerations to be able to bring the next Fallout game onto the market earlier if possible.

Since the launch of the very successful TV series on Amazon Prime Video, the post-apocalyptic Fallout franchise is experiencing its second spring, so to speak. In Fallout 76, Fallout 4 and also the earlier parts, the number of players has risen significantly – and Microsoft, as the owner of Bethesda and the franchise, apparently wants to benefit from this current hype if possible.

The release of Fallout 76 as an online offshoot has been going on for many years, and even more so since the last classic part of the series in the form of Fallout 4 – and there is still no trace of Fallout 5; The next series offshoot has not even been officially announced yet. And yet, given the current circumstances, Microsoft wants to bring forward and accelerate the continuation of the post-apocalypse franchise if possible.

At least that’s what insider Jez Corden has now said in a new issue of Xbox Two Podcasts for the best – and he is, after all, considered one of the most reliable insiders and leakers when it comes to Microsoft. Accordingly, the Xbox team has not missed the increased interest in the franchise, but they see it as a problem that Bethesda is currently busy with The Elder Scrolls VI, which will probably not come onto the market until 2027 or 2028. If you take into account that Fallout 5 would only be created afterwards and would also take another 6 to 7 years of development time, then Microsoft Xbox wants this to be an unacceptable circumstance.

Since the release of a new Fallout game is seen as a guaranteed success and Bethesda is otherwise occupied for the time being, Corden said they are considering outsourcing the development of a new Fallout. Fallout 5 could be created parallel to The Elder Scrolls VI.

This wouldn’t be completely new territory for the franchise either, after all, Fallout: New Vegas, released in 2010, was not developed by Bethesda itself, but by Obsidian Entertainment. And this part ended up being one of the most popular among fans of the franchise! Since Obsidian now also belongs to Microsoft, this might even be a conceivable scenario again. At the moment Obsidian is also busy with two projects: Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2.

At the end of the day, Corden’s information at least shows that there is at least movement around a new fallout and there is reason to hope that the series will perhaps be revived sooner than previously planned due to its current success. We will keep you up to date!
