In the past, everything around Fallout 76 did not always go according to plan. The big Wastelanders update also had to be postponed from 2019 to 2020, but now at least a test phase is imminent.

On the official Fallout 76 website, Bethesda has now announced a test phase for the major Wastelanders update. According to this, a private test server (PTS) for the major expansion should go live before the official release and the update will first be put through its paces by selected players. The developers hope that this will provide usable feedback so that they can be improved again if necessary and problems can be solved.
The test should start as early as January 17, but will only be carried out on the PC. However, only "a few hundred players" are allowed to participate, as Bethesda further admits. To have a chance you must therefore also register, The registration period runs until tomorrow, January 14th at 11:59 p.m. German time.
The official requirements are also as follows:
- Invited players must have one in the launcher Agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before installing the PTS. It is not allowed to share, stream, record, or share with anyone what you experience in the game world.
- The game test on the PTS takes place with a version of Wastelanders that is still under development. In-game bugs are therefore expected. Please report any bugs to us so we can fix them.
- This private test server is only intended for wastelanders. It is separate from our upcoming public test server, which is still under development.
- Your game progress is saved so that you can continue playing on the private test server at any time where you left off.
- However, it may be necessary to completely delete the progress in the course of the test. But we will inform you beforehand if this becomes necessary.
- Your progress on the test server will not be carried over to the live version of the game when Wastelanders appears.
- Tell us your opinion! If you are selected, you will be asked to provide feedback on specific areas of the game and take part in surveys or group discussions.
Except for maintenance, invited players can use the Wastelanders test server at any time from January 17th until it goes offline at a later date.
The update does not yet have a final release date. With Wastelanders, among other things, human NPCs with dialog trees and missions are to be introduced in Fallout 76.
