When you hear the name Minecraft, you probably don’t immediately think of horror and scary elements. Instead, either the sandbox itself, monumental replicas or large modifications, as recently with Elden Ring, are in the foreground.
But Minecraft can also be really scary. For example in dark caves and without torches, while a creeper sneaks up on you from behind. Or in the form of fan maps, which provide a truly creepy experience with almost modest-looking means.

Dying soon loses much of its horror
Ashen – a horror house in Minecraft
From April 9th to 11th the Yeggs Spring 2022 Mapjam instead of. A competition in which individual creators or smaller teams create an exciting map for Minecraft in 72 hours and compete for a small prize money.
One of the participating maps is Ashen by Reddit users TheChopper2112 and Ssupersette, which attracts a lot of attention. Because in Ashen you experience small and atmospherically dense horror adventurein which the makers show great attention to detail on the one hand and also use the playful strengths of Minecraft on the other.
But what is Ashen all about? In the map you end up either alone or with several other players in a horror house and have to escape. But first you have to kill a certain creature, but that turns out to be not so easy. After all, it’s pretty dark and dangers are lurking everywhere, sometimes barely visible.

In addition, you must not neglect your state of mind. The longer you stay in a dark room, the more madness increases. As soon as the Insanity bar
When you reach 100 percent, you die and your attempt fails.
To avoid this fate, you have to provide light, for example by lighting candles or setting up new ones. For the latter, however, you must first capture fresh resources within the map in order to be able to produce new items in the Minecraft style.

Back to Ashen: All you have to do is unzip the downloaded map file and move the folder to the Saves
-Copy folder from Minecraft. You can usually find this at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
. Then you can select the map as normal in Minecraft and scare you.
