Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord has been available on Steam for a week – and a huge success. Almost 250,000 players simultaneously immersed themselves in the medieval world of Calradia, the most successful steam release of the year so far, over the weekend.
Unfortunately, the current Early Access version still lacks some important content – such as one German translation. That's why a group of fans took the book into their own hands and made the game playable in German in record time.

So you can play Mount & Blade 2 in German
A five-member modder group released their fan translation on Steam this weekend.
The mod for the German texts can be installed in just a few steps:
- Download the translation (less than 1 megabyte in size). You can always find the link to the most current version on the Steam page of the project.
- Copy the two folders from the downloaded zip file into the game directory (example: C: Steam steamapps common Mount & Blade II Bannerlord)
- In the game itself, you only have to select Options -> Gameplay -> Language German – then you can start.
Attention: You have to repeat these steps after every update of Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. If you want to use the translation, you should reinstall it every day – after all, developer TaleWorlds Entertainment is currently releasing a new patch every day.
However, the modders are also busy: Six updates have already been released after the project's first release late Friday evening. If you want to follow up the project or maybe even support the hobby developers, you can join the Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord DE Steam group or their Discord server.
