The great thing about the Game of Thrones universe is that everyone can have their own favorite or at least guilty pleasure character. While some hated the ruthless Queen Mother Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) for her cruelty in the main series, there were also fans back then who celebrated the woman on the Iron Throne for her willingness to do anything for her family.
Even away from the big heroes and villains in the spotlight, George RR Martin’s fantasy world of Westeros offers many fascinating and clever characters that capture the hearts of fans. One of them is Ser Simon Kraft (Simon R. Beale).

House of the Dragon: In season 2, a bitter war for the Iron Throne breaks out
Ser Simon who?
We first meet the inconspicuous older nobleman in the second season of House of the Dragon. In the absence of his great-nephew Larys (Matthew Needham), Simon manages the family seat Harrenhal, the largest and oldest fortress in the Riverlands.
When Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) invades Harrenhal with his dragon Caraxes to take over the fortress in the name of Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), Ser Simon quickly and willingly bends the knee, realizing that resistance would be futile and that he has little affection for anti-king Aegon either.
But the older knight does not want to simply give in to the attention-seeking daemon. In several dialogues, Ser Simon refuses to address Daemon as king – even though he is Rhaenyra’s husband – and this enrages the dragon rider.
His loose tongue and Daemon’s childish reaction to it are good reasons for many fans to celebrate Ser Simon. On Reddit Some fans have already declared him their new favorite character.
