It’s been 30 years since the first PlayStation hit store shelves. To celebrate the anniversary, not only has a special edition of the current PS5 console been announced, but also several limited products and product packages.
As is fitting, the PS5 and accessories come in the classic grey look of the PlayStation 1 – thus fulfilling a long-held wish of many fans, such as our colleague Chris from GamePro reports.
But the news is not only being received positively – how could it be otherwise with Sony. There are already voices in the community who are expecting the return of a well-known problem.

PlayStation 5 in retro look: These are all limited editions
With the Special Editions you can choose from two packages and several individual products. These are:
PS5 Pro incl. accessories package
- PS5 Pro in retro look including stand
- DualSense-Controller im Retro-Look
- DualSense-Edge-Controller im Retro-Look
- Charging station, cover for the modular drive and USB-C cable in retro look
- four cable ties modeled after PlayStation buttons
- Sticker, one of thirty different posters, PlayStation paper clip
PS5 Slim Digital incl. accessories package
- PS5 Slim Digital Edition in retro look including stand
- DualSense-Controller im Retro-Look
- Cover for the modular drive and USB-C cable in retro look
- four cable ties modeled after PlayStation buttons

The limited editions are said to Blog post by Sony will be released on November 21st, but can be pre-ordered from September 26th. The special edition will only be available digitally in Europey and will be limited worldwide, with the PS5 Pro package being limited to around 12,300 units.

In addition, there is a desire to make the retro look more than just a limited edition. Sony could at least offer the side panels and the controller in the grey design for the PS5 (Pro) as unlimited accessories.
