People generally like Bethesda’s aftermath Contests these days but announced Fallout 3 Apparently leading to some pretty serious death threats.
Even though Fallout 4 hasn’t been in the mainline since 2015 (I’d say 2018’s Fallout 76 was more of a spin-off given its online focus), the series is doing pretty well right now. A lot of people are playing all the games, and Fallout 4 sales are up 7,500% in Europe right now. This is apparently because Amazon’s recent live-action adaptations of beloved video game series have brought these games back into the spotlight. The show itself is also doing well, with a second season already confirmed. However, Bethesda’s approach to the world of Fallout hasn’t always been perfect.
In a recent video posted by Fallout 3 and 4 creature designer Jonah Lobe, the artist partially responsible for the Deathclaw’s current look, he candidly stated that “Fallout 3” was released, the studio received numerous death threats. “When Bethesda announced the Fallout franchise, there was a lot of excitement, enthusiasm, and a lot of death threats,” Lobe explained.
“I know it might shock you to know that not every player is a great person. I’m sorry to say that Fallout has an above-average fandom. It’s great for this small but very vocal community. It would be sacrilege to say that for the first time ever, Bethesda had to hire a security guard in our attempt to revive the series.”

In an interview with Kotaku, Lobe couldn’t recall further details, but he did say that “there’s a lot of toxicity in a place like this.” [Fallout fan site] No mutants allowed. Lobe also noted that he and other developers at Bethesda didn’t “know too many details” about the threats and security requirements involved, adding, “Because obviously, you know, we’re protected a lot.” of. ”
Well, unfortunately, death threats still happen these days, so, for the most part, it doesn’t look like things have changed that much, but I guess people do enjoy Bethesda’s Fallout games more than they did before (aside from the new dimension Garth fans).
Mark recently had the chance to sit down with Lobe and talk about what he’d like to see in future Fallout games, and yes, that does include a Godzilla-sized Glowing One.
