Long-time fans are celebrating the new Battlefield 2042 gameplay trailer. But why? This can be illustrated really well with a trailer remake in Battlefield 4. That shows not only the parallels between the 2013 game and the new offshoot, but also the successful fan service of the developers.
In the video you can see one as detailed as possible Replica of the new BF2042 trailer – only in Battlefield 4! The Youtuber “Danny on PC” created the video with the help of player recordings. What comes out is not a one hundred percent copy, but a really nice homage to the good old days:

We see a lot of familiar scenes from the new gameplay trailer for Battlefield 2042. And the fact that they are so easy to implement in Battlefield 4 shows that successful fan service. He has recognized what Battlefield fans want most: A successor that in spirit follows the popular modern titles BF3 and BF4.
Why do everyone praise the »fan service«?
What is that? In this case, the term “fan service” means a developer’s ability to Player base desires and preferences to be recognized and incorporated into new series parts in a meaningful way.
In the two trailers that have been shown so far from Battlefield 2042, Dice and EA practice exactly that: knowing what makes the fans tick, what one emotional response generated with them – and to play smart with it.

This is what the author thinks: Parts 3 and 4 are my favorite Battlefield games, so BF 2042 grabbed me right away. So I reinstalled Battlefield 4 and found that it still looks okay 8 years after it was released. But more importantly, it is still fun to play. This game principle has lost almost nothing of its charisma.
That’s why I hope that this spirit can live on in the new Battlefield – and that other fans can enjoy it as much as I do. You can tell that the hunger is great by the increased number of players in BF4. I just sincerely hope that Dice can breastfeed him this time with a functioning live service.
