Long term senior developer Ubisoft Patrick Plourde is leaving the company after nearly 20 years.
Plourde announced earlier this week (April 13) that he was leaving Ubisoft after nearly two decades at the studio to launch an independent creative consultancy. In a tweet on his personal Twitter account, Plourde mentioned the various games he has played in, such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 3, Watch Dogs 2and child of lightsaid “It’s been an honor to work with everyone at Ubisoft on these great games! Now, I’m happy to share that I’m starting my own independent creative consultancy, and I’ll continue to work with Ubisoft and spend time on some personal projects. .
The former Ubisoft developer also provided a statement to Axios (via VGC), saying he will “have a position outside the traditional structure (a cross-departmental mandate)” and that he “will be able to go beyond games. Realm” does not require permission from Ubisoft.
Plourde has held a variety of roles during his tenure with the company.He was the game designer and later director of the original Assassin’s Creed Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. He also served as creative director on the 2014 indie platform role-playing game Children of Light and Far Cry 3.
