In October, the new shooter Far Cry 6 should cause a sensation on PC and consoles, but Ubisoft remains true to its line and lets you immerse yourself deeper in the game world in other ways.
As is known, Ubisoft had increasingly relied on transmedia content for their own series in the past. In addition to films and series, this also included books and comics – and there will also be those to match Far Cry 6. The game will be released on October 7th for Xbox Series X / S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, Stadia, Luna and PC. New partnerships around the globe also bring you other story content.
With “The Art of Far Cry 6”, Dark Horse Books will be releasing a visual novel from October 12th that will take you on a pictorial journey through the island paradise of Yara. The book will be peppered with concept art, character designs, and beautiful scenery and landscapes. There is also an extensive insight into Anton Castillo’s regime and the guerrillas of Libertad and their equipment.
Another content will be “Far Cry: Rite of Passage”, a comic series by Dark Horse with various villains, which tells a dark story full of intrigue and the gain of power. The story begins with the 13th birthday of President Antón Castillo’s only son, Diego. However, this birthday is more than just a celebration – it is a rite of adoption. Antón wants to teach Diego important lessons about ruling and tells cautionary stories about the misdeeds of three legendary men: Vaas Montenegro, a pirate, Pagan Min, a dictator and Joseph Seed, a preacher.
The first of the 3-part mini-series is already available in the USA, Canada and Great Britain. A comprehensive hardcover version is now to follow and will be published in English on November 30, 2021. Written by Bryan Edward Hill, illustrated by Geraldo Borges, colored by Michael Atiyeh and published by Comicraft, the series includes covers by artist Matt Taylor.
Transmedia content no. 3 is then “Far Cry: Esperanza’s Tears”, which revolves around the professional guerrilla fighter Juan Cortez, who sells his expertise to various political and criminal organizations. His latest assignment pulls him out of Yara when Antón Castillo comes back to power. This time he is hired by an underground revolutionary movement, led by a famous college teacher in Santa Costa, a South American country where the rare metal tantalium attracts all sorts of interest, and where Juan is ultimately caught in a deadly trap device. The graphic novel should be cinematic and will be released in November 2021.
Last but not least, you can look forward to “The Far Cry Survival Manual”. This book provides practical tips on survival, self-defense, extreme sports, and more in the Far Cry series. The release is planned for September 21, 2021.
