It probably won’t come as a shock to you to learn that Far Cry 7 Reportedly in development; however, that’s not all: Far Cry Multiplayer Games are also rumored to be in the works.
Yesterday, an Insider Gaming report cited sources familiar with both projects. Far Cry 7 is said to be in development called Project Blackbird, with a multiplayer title called Project Maverick.
The report notes that both games started as one game and were split in two after Far Cry executive producer Day Hay defected to Blizzard Entertainment in 2021. Both games are said to be tentatively scheduled for release in 2025.
Kotaku’s sources confirmed the report, and further pointed to the Ubisoft Snowdrop engine used to develop The Division 2 as the engine of choice for the upcoming Far Cry game. It’s also the engine behind the development of the company’s open-world Star Wars games.
The last Far Cry game released was the sixth, with Giancarlo Esposito playing villain Anton Castillo. The iron-fisted dictator of Yala has vowed to restore the island to its former glory and is grooming his son Diego to follow in his footsteps.
However, enriching his country means conquering those who don’t follow his vision, so it’s up to you to liberate the country by joining the guerrilla movement Libertad.
Far Cry 6 launches on October 7, 2021.
