The new Farming Simulator 22 will appear in November – and then there will be a free DLC again, which will continue to be supported by the EU. We’ll explain the background to you here!
As astragon has now been able to confirm, the new Farming Simulator 22 will also provide a free DLC called “Precision Farming Pack”, which you know in a comparable form from the still current part. Virtual farming is about the ecological footprint, which is why the European Union supports the project.
The DLC was initiated by John Deere in 2020 and funded by EIT Food, Europe’s leading food innovation initiative. In the second phase, the additional content for the simulation is now to be further improved. EIT wants to promote overall awareness of sustainable agriculture, which should also be done in Farming Simulator 22 through new gameplay functions. The DLC variant for Farming Simulator 19 had been downloaded more than a million times worldwide.
While this first version introduced basic precision farming techniques such as soil sampling, variable application rates, and economic analysis, the new DLC for Farming Simulator 22 goes even further. Advanced precision farming technology is used in the use of optical sensors with the aim of making virtual farms even more sustainable. This should lead to a reduced use of pesticides as well as organic and mineral fertilizers, which in turn minimizes the ecological footprint of the virtual farmers.
The project is being promoted in cooperation with the University of Hohenheim in Germany and the University of Reading in Great Britain. Grupo AN, the largest grain cooperative in Europe, is also involved. The Institute for Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences could be won as a new partner for the new version of the project in order to promote the technology among young farmers in Eastern Europe.
Farming Simulator 22 will be released on November 22nd, 2021. The new version of the Precision Farming DLC is planned for spring 2022; Further information will be available on July 21 at FarmCon. All features already contained in the first DLC will also be available in the new version. Farming Simulator 22 owners on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can download the DLC for free when it launches.
