You can currently send your own pictures on a journey through time with a simple photo upload. We have the new TikTok trend based on the examples of Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Kratos God of War try it out for you and explain how it works.
The MyHeritage.com offer is limited in time, with no specific duration limitation. If you want to be on the safe side, try the tool out as soon as possible. We’ve already asked the creators for a more specific time frame and will update the article here if we find out more.
What do I have to do for it? Basically, it’s very simple: Load ten to 25 different photos of a person on the Website for the AI Time Machine up, create an account on the site in the process and wait until the AI has created the pictures for you and the appropriate info mail including the link has arrived.
If you want to immediately look at cool pictures created by AI instead, have a look at the following article – it’s worth it!

Time travel with the help of artificial intelligence – official trailer for the photo app AI Time Machine
According to MyHeritage.com, each time travel journey takes about 30 to 90 minutes to create using the AI Time Machine. In both cases, we were there after about half an hour. The AI then shows you eight images for each of five different subject areas. For example, you can choose from Renaiss ance scholar
Crusader,
Ancient Greekor
Astronaut.
If you wish, you can have pictures created for 20 other subject areas (out of a total of 65), which each takes a few minutes. After that, 11.95 dollars will be charged for each additional package with 20 subject areas and a total of 160 images.
A tip for the upload is the recommendation to use different perspectives and that if possible only one person should be visible. It can also help if the time of day, facial expression and direction of view vary. The basis of the whole thing is the image AI Stable Diffusion.
The results are convincing – and disappointing
Above are the best Bill Gates results generated for us by the AI Time Machine. We particularly like the punk rocker, but Bill Gates also cuts a very good figure as a scholar from the Renaissance.
But as is already known from AI tools such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion, the quality of the results varies greatly. Or would you have realized that Bill Gates is supposed to be a Viking in the following pictures?
What exact text entries were made remains unknown. If you have already used tools such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion, you can often see the artifacts typical of such tools, such as slightly distorted faces or misplaced elements, in the images. For example, take a closer look at Punker-Bill’s arm in the picture above…
Kratos is finally wearing a suit!
For our second attempt with Kratos by registering with another mail account, exactly the same restrictions apply. So some of the images are convincing and really cool, but in other cases the AI just didn’t come up with anything sensible.
In this case, we limit ourselves to the good results that you can see in the picture below. Our favorites are clearly Kratos in a suit from the 1920s and as an astronomer in the Middle Ages, but the scientist from the 1930s also has something:
Our conclusion on the current TikTok trend
The AI Time Machine makes it easy to access AI image generation by simply uploading a photo, but it suffers from the same problems as all tools of this type. The quality of the results can therefore vary greatly.
The fact that you don’t have to worry about entering the right text yourself is both an advantage and a disadvantage. You don’t have direct influence on the results, but it simplifies the process.
Trying out AI Time Machine for free is definitely worth it. In the current version, however, we would not spend any money on it, especially since many beta programs for AI tools of this kind can currently still be used free of charge (although usually with restrictions on the number of images and/or the speed of image creation).
In the following article you can find out what can happen if you ask the AI Midjourney who will win the 2022 World Cup. But beware: parts of the answer could unsettle you!
I asked an AI 10 times who wins the World Cup – I only liked her answer once
Have you tried the AI Time Machine yourself or have experience with other tools of this type? If so, are you enthusiastic, rather cautious or rather disappointed? Feel free to write it in the comments!
