Chronic The Promised Neverland: The ultimate adaptation of the successful manga?
The Promised Neverland is a planetary carton in manga, cartoons … and soon in video games? The paper version was written by Kaiu Shirai and drawn by Posuka Demizu and has been pre-published in Weekly Shōnen Jump since 2016. It currently comprises 20 volumes, 17 of which are available in France. The 18th will be released in our regions on March 4th, 2021. What about the adaptation of the cartoon? Season 1 aired in early 2019. Season 2 started last January.
The Promised Neverland tells the story of Emma, Norman, Ray and their comrades. These children have happy days at the Gracefield House Orphanage under Mama’s loving care until one day they discover a terrible truth. They are actually cattle meant to satisfy the demons’ appetites. The term application appeared on the official franchise Twitter account suggests that the video game The Promised Neverland (tentative title) is for cell phones. Personally, we dream of a game on a whole new scale.
Respect for the universe
The promised Neverland is no ordinary Shonen. There is a terrible secret hidden under the air of the children’s story, a reality that trembles down your spine. Video game customization cannot decently ignore this aspect of the job without distorting it. Children dying? This happens a lot in this universe. Far from us the idea of witnessing a series of murders of toddlers with a smile on their face – trauma guaranteed – but the subject has to remain intact, better yet, central. Emma, Norman, Ray and the others are risking their lives and that cannot be overlooked. The big moments of the manga as well as that special tone that can bring us from laughter to tears with the snap of a finger must also be present. We’ll avoid spoilers, but one thing you know, you are not ready.
Un Mind Game Survival List
The Promised Neverland game will undoubtedly put us in the position of these orphans to do whatever it takes to survive. Their condition as children does not allow them to compete with adults in brutal violence, so they must be cunning to escape the dire fate that awaits them. Between distraction, stealth, and cover-up, the tenants of Gracefield House must evade orphanage workers’ surveillance and explore the area in hopes of finding the most complicated way to escape without leaving anyone behind. The dialogue phases would then be important. From half lies to half truths, the heroes of this life-size puzzle manipulated the people around them, even if it meant sowing doubt and even playing them off against each other. Survival of the fittest in all glory.
Mission: escape
Adapting the first two seasons of the animated series is a challenge in itself. Let’s try a comparison exercise (which is guaranteed to be spoiled) to fully understand the challenge ahead. Season 1 of The Promised Neverland is that of Prison Break, Season 2 of the anime is Season 2 of the hit TV series. The game would then split into two large sections, which could mean two diametrically opposed experiences. The first part would take the form of an interactive adventure like Telltale, Dontnod Entertainment, or Quantic Dream. The second part could offer us a gameplay that is typical of cat and mouse. We think of Little Nightmares with its stages of platforms, infiltration and its enemies always chasing the heroine. In the case of The Promised Neverland, the demons would act as the enemy.
A cooperative multiplayer experience
The heroes of The Promised Neverland are three, even if Emma is often the focus. However, without Ray’s intellectual skills and Norman’s analytical skills, she cannot succeed. What if video game customization allowed three players to experience this video game experience at the same time? After selecting a character to play among the three heroes above, the orphans were able to work together in real time to escape Gracefield House. Each hero’s skills would then determine their role in the upcoming escape, as well as their usefulness throughout the adventure. We should synchronize our actions, attract adults to further the success of someone else’s mission, and most importantly, keep silent on questions. Everyone’s survival depends on it.
Be the next generation of kids
All fans follow the adventures of the orphans of Gracefield House with the regularity of a metronome. Reliving the manga or animated series as a video game is of interest, but we actually hope for a game that takes a real risk. Let us live a parallel story that of other children trapped in another orphanage. Better still, this adjustment could immerse us in the skin of a next-generation child under the full burden of the actions of Emma, Ray, Norman and the others. The story would take place a few years after The Promised Neverland finale. It’s a sweet daydream, we are aware of it, but a dream to remember.
Neither release date nor machine, we know very little about the video game The Promised Neverland.
