The recently announced FBC: Firebreak from Remedy could apparently hit both Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus. This is what a renowned insider suggested.
Remedy Entertainment announced its first-ever multiplayer title, FBC: Firebreak, at the Xbox Partner Preview Event this week. The co-op shooter is set in the Control universe and will – this is confirmed – be included directly in the Xbox Game Pass at launch. However, Sony fans apparently also have reason to be happy about this.
Renowned insider Stephen Totilo from Game File spoke out via social media after the game’s official announcement and emphasized that, according to his understanding, FBC: Firebreak will be included in the Xbox Game Pass as well as PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions upon release.
Studios usually sign deals with Sony or Microsoft for one of the services, but Remedy seems to be taking this unusual route and offering both game subscriptions. The background could be the partially flopped releases of recent live service games, which only focused on one of the two services.
To ensure that this fate doesn’t befall FBC: Firebreak in the first place, the co-op shooter could apparently launch directly in both subscriptions in order to immediately secure a broader community and player base. For example, Sea of Stars was one of the few titles to follow such a path in 2023 – and it ultimately did extremely well as a smaller title and enjoyed greater popularity.
