Remedy Entertainment is returning to the Control universe and has announced its first-ever multiplayer title with FBC: Firebreak.
Anyone who loved the dark and brutal atmosphere in Control from Remedy Entertainment has reason to be happy, because the development studio announced its first multiplayer game with FBC: Firebreak as part of the Xbox Partner Preview last night – and that’s in Control universe and picks up on that atmosphere. However, in the future you will no longer be playing as a single player, but for the first time in a Remedy multiplayer game.
FBC: Firebreak is a co-op shooter that is designed for three gamers to play together and offers significantly more run-and-gun gameplay that is more reminiscent of DOOM. You are deployed as agents of the Federal Bureau of Control and have only one task: If something ends up in the wrong dimension, you have to get it out of the way.
You will be provided with a wide variety of items that don’t always seem normal like a Gatling, but rather more crazy ones, including an exploding garden gnome.
The basic idea behind the new game is that it is simply fun and easily accessible to play with friends. However, there is of course a progression system that is intended to keep gamers engaged. But this doesn’t rely on you logging in every day to collect loot; FBC: Firebreak aims to be a welcome alternative to many other live service games today.
FBC: Firebreak also has its own storyline, set between the events of Control and Control 2. Most of it takes place in the Oldest House of the Federal Bureau of Control. But even though the game is set in the Control universe, according to director Mike Kayatta, Remedy does not want the new game to be seen as DLC or as a sequel to Control; rather, it is a spin-off.
FBC: Firebreak will be released in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC; From the day of release, the title will also be part of the Xbox Game Pass.
