Yesterday EA officially presented its FIFA 22. Unfortunately, a feature has been deleted for the new part that was still available for free on PS4 and Xbox One last year.
FIFA 22 was officially unveiled yesterday. You can find all information here. When the game launches on October 1st, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will have to forego an extra from last year – or pay dearly for it. We’re talking about dual entitlement.
With FIFA 21 it was still the case that the purchase of each version on the PS4 and Xbox One entitled to download the upgrade for the respective next-gen console free of charge. But for FIFA 22 that was canceled. Instead, you only get access to both versions when you buy the Ultimate Edition, which costs a whopping 100 dollars. In addition to various FUT content, it is the only one that offers the possibility of downloading and playing both the last-gen and current-gen versions. If you only get the Standard Edition on the PS4, you would have to pay the full game price of 80 dollars for a potential later PS5 upgrade.
EA is one year late following the same path as the basketball simulation NBA 2K. It was already there in 2020 that only the purchase of the 100 euro version enabled access to both versions of the game. FIFA 22 will be released on October 1st for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PC and Google Stadia. Once again, the Switch does not receive a current version, but only a Legacy Edition.
